§ 18-9. Junk defined.

  • The term junk when used in this article shall mean used metals, rags, bottles, bones, dead animals or scrap of any kind or material of any description, parts of machinery or motor vehicles, unused furniture, stoves, refrigerators or other appliances, remnants of wood, metal or any other castoff material of any kind, whether or not the same could be put to any reasonable use, copper, brass, rubber, debris, waste, steel, iron, other ferrous and nonferrous materials, which are scraped or unattached parts of equipment or machines or other manufactured items. It also means, in the case of motor vehicles, vehicles which are substantially wrecked, dismantled or inoperative or are in need of repairs exceeding or equaling fifty (50) percent of the fair market value of the vehicle.
